Our Mission

“The mission of the Swan Youth Ballet Company is to advance culture within the area of Ballet Dancing through education and guided performances.”

This is a prestigious pre-professional program for junior ballet dancers. These highly motivated students gain exposure to professional ballet company life, with opportunities to study with artistic staff, learn company repertoire, shadow professional dancers, and improve technique and artistry. 

Objectives of SYB:

1.     Foster and promote arts throughout the community

2.     Extend opportunities to Indigenous/Torres Strait Islander communities for youth to study classical ballet

3.     To foster and promote classical ballet for the underprivileged i.e. where a child can not afford tuition

4.     Promote knowledge of safe dance practices with all company members to minimise injury during their career

5.     To foster and nurture a love in classical ballet, in the youth of today

6.     To challenge and change the age old physical/mental stereotypes of classical ballet
